US mid-morning: Stocks tumble
LONDON (SHARECAST) - Hopes of a flat start were quickly dashed as US stocks followed the lead of Europe, and looked beyond the bail-out of Ireland to see whether another euro-zone country is likely to need a helping hand from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.
